Rain Dog Designs

Rain Dog Designs provides sustainable landscaping services that protect habitat and waterways for clients across Puget Sound. We specialize in rain gardens, low impact development, and natural yard care techniques; EnviroStars 5-star certified business.

A rain garden is a shallow depression of compost amended soils, planted with native vegetation and hardy cultivars, and covered with a finishing mulch. Rain gardens filter and infiltrate stormwater from nearby roofs and hard surfaces that would otherwise pollute local rivers, streams and lakes – and ultimately Puget Sound.

Our Totem Ocean Trailer Express (TOTE) rain gardens at the Port of Tacoma protect nearby Commencement Bay.  Katie Campbell, KCTS 9, chronicles this amazing success story on EarthFix.  Kaid Benfield blogs this cover of her story. Visit TOTE and several other great projects at our rain garden stories page.

Rain Dog Designs has extensive rain garden design and installation experience – more than 150 Puget Sound projects at residential, commercial and public locations. Visit ourrain garden map to see more.
